February 7th 2011

Okay, again I know it is TECHNICALLY February 8th but this is the post for February 7th. I am really bad about not getting to things until last minute.

AND... I know the point of my "Daily Reflective Blog" is to find an OLD photo from years ago to reflect upon, but I wanted to share this photo:

       I had the pleasure to photograph Baby Caden Charles this evening. He was not too happy that we were making him get BACK down to his birthday suit- apparently after being born he has realized that it is much more comfortable to be CLOTHED rather than naked! Well, I suppose I would agree!!

       Other than that, he did an awesome job and I am very happy with the turn out of the photos! Check them out on my facebook fan page- Tabitha Nicole Photography, or, check back on here- I am sure in a few days I will post them.

       Anyways, this photo has so much to tell. I just love that Mom & Dad had this idea- I would have never known that he had that tattoo & would have never thought of this. I just keep staring at the photo (I know that can be considered creepy... ) but I think it is because baby & father skin-skin contact is something that is important within the first few weeks after the baby enters the world- just as mother & baby skin-skin contact is.
       This family is a challenging family to photograph and I LOVE it. I remember doing their wedding- their special day was so beautiful, and even though it was only my second wedding, I had never done any shoot that was Country themed. I was used to the "scene" type of shoots- concerts & band photos. This baby shoot was no different and I love how they challenge me. I do want to put my unique taste into their photos but I also want to accommodate their style into it as well and, in my opinion, I think I did. So, Thank you!

        I will admit that I was a bit nervous for this shoot... YES I have photographed babies before but really nothing like this. I think I was a little too hard on myself though, which I suppose could be good because I did not expect to have such a wonderful turn out & I am quite satisfied with them.

February 6th 2011: Past, present & the future.

First off, yes I know that it is technically February 7th, but this is my "Photo Reflection" for Feb 6th. I am a little late and I almost just went to bed but then I remembered that I PROMISED myself that I am going to do this EVERYDAY for as long as I can.

Today's Photo:

       The series that I did of these flowers is one of my favorites. My room was in the basement at my parents house and I had probably 4-5 different photo series hanging on my walls. I believe this series that this photo is from was my favorite. In my opinion, photos can brighten any ones day. Especially these.

       I remember the day I took these. It was at Benetti's. A nice little coffee shop in Raytown that I miss a lot. I wish there was a little locally owned coffee shop around my house. There is a starbucks about 10 min away. Maybe I will start going there again to edit, listen to music, drink coffee & think.

       Anyways, the day this photo was taken was a special day, for me at least. I am not going to mention names, but it was the day that my ex-best friend and I went to get coffee & catch up after having the biggest fall out I have ever had of anyone in my whole life. I remember she was wearing my skirt. I think it was in March or April of 2008. The air was cool as we sat outside and laughed and smiled at each other. I remember exactly what I was wearing as well. But that detail is not as important.

       Now, her and I no longer speak, and when we do, it is like two hammers hitting heads together as hard as mentally possible. Sometimes I wish I could go back and change things, not with just her but with a lot of things that have happened in my life.

       But then I think... If I could go back and change that very minute that I found out what was going on or what had happened or when I said this or that... then my life today would be different. Even one minute of change from 1, 2, 3 or even 4 years ago would make my TODAY different which ultimately means that I would not be how I am right now .

       Even though I have a lot of problems today, I like who I am and where I am, and even where I am going- even though I have NO idea where I am going right now.

I am thankful for all of my trials that I am suffering from right now. Some day in the future I will look back and be very grateful for what had happened then, which is now- JUST as I am reflecting upon the day that this photo was taken and the person I was with. Funny how that works out, right?

winter solstice 2009

Here is todays photo. This was taken last winter at a park in Raytown. I love this photo because it has a lot of texture. I just want to rub my finges across the "ball" item & feel it poking me. A lot of detail was put into this "ball" thingy, i am really not sure what it is...
I am not a fan of winter for obvious reasons- snow, ice & COLD! But I do love photographing plans & nature in the winter time. I have had great luck with winter/ice shoots. I just need to make sure I bring the right boots!
Penelope went with me on this shoot. She did not have too much fun because, again, there was snow, ice and COLD air! But hey, its gooe for her.

This one is a bit shorter because ive got to get back to working!

Here... Kitty kitty.

I've decided to start doing a daily blog. This will consist of me choosing a random photo that I have taken and reflect upon it, the subject and what was going on when I took the photo.


Here is the first photo.

              This is my parents cat Lechia. She is the best cat in the whole world.I remember my senior year of high school I would come home in the afternoons and have to work at 430/5 so I would take a quick "cat" nap with her. She would fall asleep on my belly in the living room.

She has the most pretty green eyes I have ever seen on a cat.

She also has a long tongue, like I do... I was quite amused once I found out that by putting hot sauce on her nose, I could get some amazing photos of her. But THIS one, I promise, had no hot sauce involved :)

               Have you ever wondered or wished you were a cat? Just think of what their day consists of... nothing but "cat" naps. And eating & going to the bathroom. This cat though, could see ghosts & could chase them around the house. My bedroom used to be in the basement at my parents house and I remember being scared if I was home alone or during the night because she could be doing somersaults in the dinning room above my room.

             She also loves milk. More than I do and I LOVE milk! :) Every time we would give her a small bowl of milk she would go CRAZY and run around the house.

I also remember, in the "great room" at my parents house there is a beautiful set of french doors and above those there was a shelf across the wall almost to the celing. One day I came home and she was sitting up there. I would just love to see her get down....

Robertson

I shot my second wedding almost two months ago. It was a lot of fun. It was hard-core country which was nice and interesting to experience. I had to open up my Photographic technique to capture their special day in a way that they could appreciate for the rest of their lives, and I hope that they return to me for more photos once Baby Robertson arrives :]

Living with the Wolfman

Here are the rest of the photos from Living with the Wolfman's show on Saturday, July 24th 2010 at the Jackpot Saloon in Lawrence, KS.

This was the first show I shot using my new camera. Well, he isn't very new now. I got Percy in April. He did a good job, though :) Well, I take that back.. I did shoot a high school battle of the bands for them, but that doesn't really count!
